Central West TAFE

When can I start my unit?

Enrolment will be term-based; meaning support from the lecturer will commence at the beginning of the new term and continue for two TAFE terms (approximately 20 weeks).

Students have the option to enrol and commence their studies prior to the official enrolment date and can receive all course materials but will not receive lecturer support until the start of the term.

What is the cost studying a unit by flexible learning?

There are three main costs when you enrol in a flexible learning unit:

  1. Tuition fee - covers assessment and tutor support;
  2. Class or Material fee - covers learning materials (but does not include the cost of textbooks);
  3. Enrolment charge - covers the cost of processing your enrolment and administrative support whilst you are studying a unit.

Do I have to enrol in a whole course at once?

No, we actually recommend that you study and complete one unit before moving onto the next. However, students select the number of units they study in a course based on their individual commitments.

If you are seeking ABSTUDY or AUSTUDY support, you need to be enrolled in a full-time course to be eligible. For further queries on your eligibility, contact: Centrelink, AUSTUDY - 131202 or ABSTUDY - 132317.

How long have I got to complete the unit?

You generally have two TAFE terms (approximately 20 weeks) from the date of enrolment for each unit you select. If after this period you have not completed the unit you are enrolled in, you will have to re-enrol and pay any associated costs.

What happens if I need help during my studies?

For general enquiries, you should contact a Flexible Learning Support Officer. For questions related to the content of the unit you are studying, contact your lecturer.

How am I assessed?

You will be assessed using a number of different methods. To check what your assessment tasks may be for a particular unit, check the unit assessment plan.
