TAFEWA Central West

Central West TAFE

Full time and part time studies

The most common form of study at Central West TAFE is full time face-to-face classess. Generally full time study consists of 16 - 20 hours of classes per week. In addition to this you may be required to complete study or assignments in your own time. Most classes will be scheduled during the day but some courses do have evening classes.

If you would prefer to study part time, you can enrol in a full time course but choose to study only a couple of units at a time.

Flexible Learning

Throughout the region many clients are unable to participate in face-to-face classes. Whether it be due to the distance from campus, work commitments or personal preference, the College can provide training opportunities through flexible learning.

Flexible learning allows you to study in your own home or workplace at a time and pace that suits you and your lifestyle. It is a way of studying that allows you to acquire or update skills without setting foot on the campus. Flexible learning may also offer you the opportunity to mix off campus study with some units on campus in class, so offering you the best of both worlds.

Flexible learning students are supported by tutors and in many regional centres can access the facilities of the local Telecentre.

On-line learning is an exciting innovation in training delivery that allows sudents from remote areas to access education and training options via the Internet. Many students are now taking up the opportunity to study on-line.

Employment based training

Apprenticeships and traineeships are opportunities for you to earn as you learn with the majority of the training taking place on the job. You can enrol in an apprenticeship or traineeship course once you have a position with an employer.

Traineeships. Generally a traineeship is a structured program for 12 months or more on a full time or part time basis. A trainee gains work experience with an employer and has the opportunity to learn new skills in a hands on environment. Traineeships can help you decide on a career as nearly all training is provided on the job.
