Central West TAFE

Indigenous Community & Organisation Training

Central West TAFE has strong links with Aboriginal communities and is well recognised as an organisation prepared to negotiate training for Aboriginal people in a sensitive and culturally appropriate manner. In particular, the college emphasises consultation and joint implementation of projects with Aboriginal communities and groups. Training needs are identified and programs developed in close consultation with Aboriginal communities, ensuring relevance of content and delivery strategies.

In general, the delivery strategy for training programs is to work in partnership with an Aboriginal group or community organisation to provide a positive learning environment to develop the skills of participants.

The College can provide customized training programs to meet the requirements of your community or organisation, with training being provided either on-site at workplace or community, or on-Campus in Geraldton or Carnarvon.

If members of your Community or Organisation require training, then now is the time to contact your local Indigenous Development Officer (see sidebar) at Central West TAFE on toll free 1800 672 700 to discuss your training needs and start the planning process.

Aboriginal Skills Recognition

Do you currently possess the skills or knowledge to receive a formal qualification?

When people are working they often may not see the value of training as they are already employed but the Skills Recognition process could be a way to gain a TAFE qualification or competency for recognition of tasks, duties, skills and knowledge obtained throughout your working and personal life experiences.
